Wednesday, March 19 meeting - some topics we were discussing:
please hit edit page and then add your comments with your name so we can see your thinking
at this point - I think we agreed that:
March is a fine month
we support going ahead with having Christine or Maura speak to Sue Shaw about grabbing a Wednesday (1st choice) or Thursday
right? comments? questions?
I think the exposure at the Orion is fantastic. Perhaps next year we can have even more pieces. There were at least three panels unused and certainly HIS would not use them all. Sheila
Minutes from 4/9 (person who brought up topic)
Scheduling around performances that are happening is good(Brian)
Keeping work for Central Office? (Maura)
May not be able to use walls if they are repaired by next year (Christine)
Maura will speak to Sue Shaw about date (sheila)
scheduled for Friday, October 3rd
Minutes from 4/9 (person who brought up topic):
suggestion that each school have a volunteer (not necessarily an art teacher) who would collect, transport, and hang show (Sheila)
There are problems associated with that (Kathy)
Suggestion that there be one or two drop off dates and a safe place to store until the show (Group)
Specific date for delivery and installation and pick-up required. Posters of notification. (Elizbeth)
Sue says she doesn't want a juried show (Maura)
Should develop an information sheet about show. State that there is no insurance. No glass?
Elizabeth and Kathy will develop a sheet
I think we were struggling with how staff members from across the district would be directed to drop off their artwork
one idea proposed was that each art teacher would be the point person for each school
another strategy was to ask each art donor to drop off art work at an appointed time
comments? questions?
I believe that if art teachers are the ones collecting and hanging the show, we have a much greater stake in the quality of the work. Sarah asked the purpose of the show. Perhaps a Celebration of the Arts would be a juried show of area artists. A Celebration of MSAD 75 staff would be more inclusive of a variety of interests. Each school could form its own committee. Sheila
Middle School Art Teachers are opposed to drop offs because the main office of the middle school gives them the work and then they are responsible. The MAMS Art teachers will collect and hang art from Middle School teachers only.
May 16 - through end of school year?
Minutes from 4/9 (person who brought up topic):
Two pieces of 2-D per teacher to Topsham Library to Connie, morning to afternoon. Taken down before school ends.
I think I heard they were looking for matted student art work - about 40 pieces?
At this point I think the Middle and High School Art Teachers thought this was something that they were willing to do.
comments? questions?
I think that Lennie and Sheila are going to take care of this for April
week of April 7-11: Betsey Bailey has provided the District Offices with student art work
comments? questions?
Thank you. It looks wonderful! I have heard many appreciative comments already. It's amazing how uplifting visual arts can be. Sally L
Thank you Betsey! The District Lobby has been transformed again; it is uplifting and people are appreciative. Sally L
I think I heard the interest in working together more regularly
We talked about meeting on Wednesday, April 9th at the Middle School.
We wanted to talk more about the Elementary Plan for next year (among other things).
comments? questions?
Did we get to a discussion of the K-5 plan and how to build a 6-12 plan that would connect? Sheila
