Here is the goal for the 2008-2009 Action Plan.
Provide professional development and support for Professional Learning Communities (Rick DuFour) focused on student achievement.
Areas of focus will be:
a) student engagement through:
• refining curriculum maps in our focus groups to include essential questions;
• identifying, learning, and sharing effective teaching strategies which move students to higher order thinking;
• identifying, learning, and sharing effective uses of technology including digital citizenship;
• sharing effective uses of data and using student work to inform instructional practice in order to scaffold student learning; and
• planning for differentiated instruction for individuals (intervention, engagement, and enrichment).
b) developing an understanding of why an effective and consistent school-wide grading system will have a positive impact on student achievement.
c) institutionalizing a system of celebration for students and staff.
