| Name | Describe one experience integrating technology into teaching and learning | Reflecting back to this expereince, what did it allow you or students to do differently in your class? | Reflecting back to this experience was there an impact on student engagement? Please briefly describe. | Reflecting back on this experience integrating technology into teaching and learning what challenges did you overcome in order to implement this use of technology? |
What is one thing you would like others to know about your experience implementing this use of technology in your class. |
| Christy | I had a student reading a book online using my Macbook with headphones because the laptop would read the text aloud to him. | It allowed the student to work independently on a book that he otherwise would not have been able to read by himself. | The student was very engaged while the Macbook was functioning, however, he became frustrated when the Macbook kept dying. | I had to overcome the fact that my Macbook repeatedly kept breaking. My student never finished the book because he became too frustrated. | The Macbooks are an excellent tool when they work only. |

Due to the nature of my job, I primarily use technology to communicate the learning needs of the students I work with, with staff and parents. I would like to use technology to create preteaching lessons for vocabulary and concepts, review of test questions, and links to useful websites. |
I imagine, if I was able to use technology that it would allow me to present information to a larger group of students rather than only one or two at a time. It would also make it easier to review/preteach information to students, and allow them access to it, whenever they require it. | N/A | Unfortunately, much of my computer needs are only accessible on the PC side, which has consistently been "unwilling" to work. My IEP paperwork, which requires the majority of my time, is only easily accessible on the desktop, since the paperwork is formatted for a PC. It is frustrating to not be able to complete everything that is asked of us on the MAC. If that was possible, I would be able to access my paperwork, no matter where I am. | I would be willing to learn more about technology and the possible uses of it in my program, if I felt that it pertained to ALL aspects of my job. |

Seemed to be more engaged | Screen kept going black | How to access and use this software |
| David C. | THe CPB staff and students have written about class activities and field trips (and taken photos) and created a class newspaper using pages and iPhoto | We created a medium for more effectively communicating with parents and the school community | Yes! Students are more motivated and proud of the final product. | Having time to learn and teach staff and students to use software, and availability of hardware (additional computers, cameras, and projector) when needed. | Great tech opportunities are available given time to learn hardware/ software ( and ability to teachstudents and ed techs.) |

| Joe | I use technology quite extensively. Using my wonderful laptop, I couple it with a multi-media projector and provide my students with virtual manipulatives to help them gain understanding of math concepts. | It allows the class to learn in a more collective, collaborative environment. | Student engagement dramatically increased. | The limited number of laptops available to each student is a challenge. | Implementation of technology in the classroom promotes multi-modal learning resulting in a deeper, richer understanding of the concepts presented. |
| Paul | I scanned books into kurqweil 3000 program ( text to speech) | It allowed the student to read large amounts of text more independently and fluently. | The student was engaged. | Scanning is a time intensive activity. I showed another student how to do it and he scanned books as a service actvity. | The quality of the speech output is pretty good, but still unnatural. Some students don't like it and prefer audio books (cd's). |
| Tammy | I use technology with my students to make computerized graphs. | Make professional, neat graphs. | Students are focused when using computers. | I had to learn to use a projector (time set up) | I am frustrated because my file server has been full twice this year and during professional development I did not have parallels installed. |
| Matt | Using online maps, timelines, and photos to assist teaching The Civil War to juniors. | This allowed the students to manipulate the timeline. Each date had information they could click on, and when students had questions about what things looked like, picures were just a click away. | Lots of my students learn visually and this limited the written notes they needed to take. | Learned to use a video projector and a dongle. | It was fairly easy to put together. You just need to be careful sifting through on-line information to make sure to get accurate information. |
| Heidi | Powerpoint | This allowed my students to learn to use a new tool and present information in a different way. | My students need many ways to present information differently. This allowed them to use a different forum. | The challenges that are presented are difficult to manage when students don't like to go out of the room. They very much like to stay in one location. | It is not hard for me to put together it is just difficult to manage when kids have so many issues remembering passwords, saving, finding their information etc. |

| Lexine | i-search and historical fiction support | The speed at which students are able to get research information is MUCH faster. | Students like to work on computers rather than in books, so student engagement increases with technology use. | Signing out computers from the lab. Most students don't know they have an account. It would help if the i-search and historical fiction packets were available on-line so students could access them from home. | |
| Erika M. | I used my laptop and projector to show PBS movies in class | To visualize what people with eating disorders live through | Students were more engaged if they were reading about it | I was not given the right cord for the projector. (this is a challenge) | Nothing |

In the past I have used a multimedia projector from the lbrary to demonstrate website navigation.
Otherwise, my students frequently use laptops for word processing or internet or database research. |
Using the multimedia projector allows students to navigate websited independently, but with support. They learn through experience.
Word processing is essential for my students who have challenges with writing fluency, handwriting, spelling, and grammar. |
Yes, my students are more fluent writers and readers when they have access to technology. |
My laptop would be ideal for using the multimedia projector because it is so mobile, but I have experienced challegneges using the computer center laptops and projector in sense of reservations, setup time, and technology problems.
For word processing I have to carry laptops to my room every day I want students to use them and I don't have enough for every student. |
I would like 1 to 1 computers for every student in my classroom. |
| Darcy | We used iphoto and Pages to develop graphic displays of our service learning project. | It alowed us to create a professional, finished product for display and for communicating our goals with others. | Yes. Students were more engaged, knowing that their product looked of high-quality. | I had to use my own laptop with three students because they didn't have their own access to Pages. | The Pages program offers a neat opportunity for graphic creativity. |
| David P. | Using math software so students can practice math concepts. | Students enjoyed working at their own pace. Allowed me to facilate. | Students stayed focused and were able to get immediate feedback. | The hardest thing is scheduling the computer cart . | The program is very user friendly and the students can navigate with little help from the teacher. |
| Stephanie | I used keynote to create a powerpoint presentation for a service learning project | Will allow me to share serice learning projects at the High school to others. | Not yet, have not yet presented Keynote powerpoint to students. | The ease of designing powerful power point presentations through a very user friendly program. | How easy and effectibe the keynote program is. |

| Molly | the use of video streaming, using the multimedia projector | It brings history , peple and events come alive, through visual images, photos, movieand video clips, interviews etc. | Students were war more engaged, visually, in discussion, and by their futher questioning | Learning the how to. I still need to learn how to use my laptop to do this, instead of my desktop. | It opens unimaginable worlds to me as qn educator and ftr my students. |
| Frances | i-search and historical fiction support | The speed at which students are able to get research information is MUCH faster. | Students like to work on computers rather than in books, so student engagement increases with technology use. | Signing out computers from the lab. Most students don't know they have an account. It would help if the i-search and historical fiction packets were available on-line so students could access them from home. | |
| Julie | Power point presentations, SOHCAHTOA game for coordinate graphing. | For the SOHCAHTOA game, it would have been better if each student had access to their own computer. | Focused on all the multiple intelligences, so that all students were engaged. | It takes time to set up, plean, and to reserve the laptops. | Everyone should know about this great way to teach coordinate graphing. |
