Name Describe one experience  integrating technology into teaching and learning Reflecting back to this expereince,  what did it allow you or students  to do differently in your class? Reflecting back to this experience  was there an impact on student engagement?  Please briefly describe. Reflecting back on this experience integrating technology into teaching and learning what challenges did you overcome in order to implement this use of technology? What is one thing you would like others to know about your experience implementing this use of technology in your class.
Candace I used itunes along with iphoto to have my students create a slide show of the information they investigated about Puerto Rico. It allowed my students to enjoy the ambience of Puerto Rico by seeing and hearing the sights while eating PR food.    This proved to be a very good simulation activity.  Students later commented on how they felt like they were actually in Puerto Rico. Set up was difficult due to the lack of electrical outlets.  Also, the many ways to send pictures to me required my battling a steep learning curve regarding computer files. I would like them to know that it was successful and that students enjoyed it.
Ellyn Projecting French paintings from museum sites as a conversation prompt and to introduce culture. All could see better and stay focused better.  I could highlight, zoom, etc.  I could also permit students to choose and manipulate content on the spot. They were more engaged because the size, focus and pace of change helped keep theminterested.  Could also tune out in the dark, however. It takes more time to plan for it, set it up, take it down.  Other language teachers would love the way you can use it to get them to talk and make their own questions about anything.
Peggy I used a popular song from a Colombian singer and had students listen to the song, watch the video and complete a Cloze-type activity in which students had to conjugate the verb in the preterite (given the infinitive) by listening/viewing the song. It allowed students to use auditory/visual learning cues to complete the activity; they were able to complete the activity online and submit their responses for review. Students truly enjoyed listening to the song and watching the video; it made a verb conjugation activity fun!  In order to implement this lesson using technology, I was able to gain access to the multimedia projector for the class periods I needed, as well as consistent access to the computer center. There are many online sources that provide students with an opportunity to experience the language in an authentic format.
Jessica Put vocab lists and exercises on the web @ www.quia.com Allowed students to access learning outside the classroom  Students were more likely to use the online flashcards than make their own.  Students could access their vocab lists without having to ask for new copies. Students continued to use lack of internet at home as an excuse to not access this resourse. This website isn't just for foreign language!  Also there are MANY exercises already made that can be looked up by topic or textbook.

Elaine I used a website that goes with the textbook to do a class review before a test, with projector. It allowed students to reinforce material and get immediate feedback on their responses. They were highly engaged with a competitive spirit.  Setting up the projector and getting everything to work right. It ensures that all students go through the lesson with no excuses they might have if assigned for at home.
Cathy Quizlet.com is a web site where a vocabulary list or verb conjugations can be typed on a page that is accessible by a group. It has different types of exercises: familiarize (flash cards that can be printed), learn (typing the vocabulary), and a test. It allows students to study and practice their Spanish vocabulary and conjugation differently (multiple intelligence / differentiation) at home and take quizzes in class on Quizlet. It is an extra tool to help students learn their vocabulary and conjugation using technology at home. Use of LCD projector to present Quizlet and create a group page for each of my classes. It might seem overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of it, it is great!
Trying new things and practicing is essential.
Kathy I have used google images of French artists’ paintings to allow the students to use their art vocabulary, encourage speaking in French and to expose the students to French Culture. It gave me a wide range of pictures to show the students and allowed them to carry on an extensive dialogue about the paintings and the artists. Yes,  everyone was engaged and had opinions about the different artists. I was able to set up the LCD projector without a problem. It was a great tool to encourage discussion especially since the paintings were large enough for everyone to see.
